Drawing Skills 1: Pt 3; Project 5 Townscapes – Ex 4 – Statues

I did the majority of this exercise in direct observation of the statues and then completed some additional detail at home as I had forgotten to take my glasses with me!

I really enjoyed it as I love drawing people so felt completely in my comfort zone. I particularly enjoyed looking closely at the detail of the faces and tried as well to do some foreshortening with a little success.

I have been a registered nurse since the mid 1990’s but always had a passion for art. I am now in the fortunate position to be able to take a career break and have enrolled on the OCA painting degree pathway. My first course is drawing 1. I don’t feel I have a particular style or genre, but I do enjoy portraiture and finding patterns in nature; I hope that my studies will widen my perspective and I am excited to see where this takes me. Outside of art I enjoy running, travelling and generally being outdoors.
